Know what triggers your asthma & avoid triggers. Your triggers can be dust, fumes, pollens, certain perfumes, smoke, polluted places, carpet dust, ‘bakhoor’, paints’ smell, animal fur, pets like cats & birds, etc – exposure to these can worsen your asthma symptoms.
Quit smoking and avoid secondhand smoke
Keep fit by exercising – 30 minutes at least 5 times a week
Have a written asthma action plan ready after discussion with your doctor
Eat to maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight & obese can worsen asthma.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
Drink plenty of water to keep well-hydrated
Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fried fats
